About the Head Duffer

My name is Tony Carbon. That’s me down at the bottom of your screen. I live in the western suburbs of Chicago, Woodridge specifically. I was fortunate enough to have been brought up with parents that loved the game of golf. My father happened to be my best friend in life. Although I didn’t realize that until later, I’m just happy that I could spend time with him the way I did: playing a lot of golf.

My mother is still with me and still playing golf 2 or 3 times a week at the ripe young age of 86. She has had her share of health problems in recent years but doesn’t let it interfere with her golf. In fact, a couple years back she need major surgery and told the oncologist, “it’s going to have to wait till golf season is over with”. You have to admire her spunk!

You can usually catch me at Zigfield Troy practicing my game, or at Village Greens of Woodridge, my “home course”. Right now according to the CDGA my handicap is 21.8. Most of my strokes are lost around and on the green. I’m working on lowering it but that takes time and money. Time I have plenty of, it’s the money that gets in the way. I may be a high handicapper, but that doesn’t detour from the fact that I love the game of golf. According to the app on my iphone, Caddie Pro, my fairway percentage is 43.6%, greens in regulation 37.5% and I average 39 putts a round. #Golfishard. Again, not a great golfer just a lover of the game I inherited from my dad.

Right now I’m playing Callaway X-20 irons, 4- sw  regular flex, TaylorMade Burner Driver, 3Wood and 5Wood stiff shaft and an Odyssey White Hot Tour putter. I mostly use Titleist DT Solo balls with the numbers circled in black marker and a black stripe. So if you see my ball next to the fairway in the left or right cut of rough. HANDS OFF MY BALLS!

If you live in Chicago and would like to go play a round of golf, email me. Visiting Chicago for the first time and want to know a place to play, email me. I’ll play just about anywhere and with anyone interested in playing golf. You can find my contact information in the side bar under the heading, advertise here.

My Philosophy

1) Enjoy the time you have with the people you love. You never know when that could and will be taken away from you.

2) Golf is a game of traditions. Keep that tradition alive in your family. Take your children golfing. If they don’t like it so be it. At least you tried to introduce them to the game. If they do like it, it will open up a whole new relationship with your son/daughter, trust me.
